Historic Genoa, near Lake
Tahoe and Carson City in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, is
Nevada's oldest town. It is the location of the Genoa House Inn Bed
& Breakfast, an authentic
Victorian home listed in the National Register of Historical Places. The
house has been restored to the charm and tranquility of an earlier time.
A.C. Pratt, a newspaper publisher, built the house in 1872 for his family.
He printed the Carson Valley News, the valley's first newspaper here.
Genoa is the home of the Candy Dance Arts & Crafts Faire, held the
last full weekend in September, and the Genoa Cowboy Poetry & Music
Festival, held the last weekend in April. On July 4, the Reno
Philharmonic Orchestra celebrates Independence Day with its Pops in the
Park event in Mormon Station State Park.
The
Genoa House Inn is open year round and features three beautiful rooms, each
with private bath; one has a Jacuzzi tub. "Your romantic getaway is closer than you think!"
